Project Description

This 100 m² apartment includes two bedrooms, a living and dining space, a kitchen with a small dining area leading to a balcony, and one bathroom. The layout benefits from soft eastern light in the bedrooms and kitchen, while the main social spaces are more inward-facing, requiring a thoughtful lighting strategy.

 

Original finishes included marble floors and darker kitchen tones, which needed to be balanced to create a more serene, emotionally uplifting environment.

The Brief

The client, a 45-year-old professional, sought a calming and uncluttered space to counterbalance his active daily life.

Our goal was to design an emotionally balanced home that encouraged intentional living, minimized visual distraction, and prioritized comfort through ethically conscious choices.

  • A light-toned, relaxing interior
  • A study nook for his child in the second bedroom
  • A low-visual-noise media setup with a large modular sofa
  • Enhanced storage in the bathroom without compromising aesthetics

Proposals

Following an immersive briefing session, we uncovered the client’s natural orientation toward earthy calm, Scandinavian simplicity, and tactile warmth. We offered two concept options:

Option 1: Grounded Minimalism​

  • A neutral, monochrome palette: soft taupe, bone white, and warm grey
  • Natural oak joinery, reclaimed wood furniture, and matte ceramics
  • Ethically sourced textiles: linen curtains, thick handwoven rugs, and plant-based upholstery
  • Reduced visual clutter through built-in cabinetry and recessed lighting
  • A refined yet rooted space designed to support slow rituals and natural light flow

Option 2: Cocooning Comfort

  • A Hygge-inspired palette: warm beige, muted blue, and clay brown
  • Wool throws, cotton knits, and low modular seating for deeper rest
  • Delicate mood lighting, scented soy candles, and ambient layering
  • Space planning for social cocooning and sensory calm
  • A home where softness and mindful materiality invite daily stillness

Accepted Proposal​

The client selected a hybrid of both proposals, resulting in a warm, textural home that balances grounded clarity and cocooned comfort. The living room now features a clean-lined floating TV unit, tactile sofa modules, and ethical textiles.
